Claire and Richard's Travels
Left Cardiff on coach at 11.30pm, arriving in Gatwick at 4.15am the next day. After making it through check in we had a 4 hour wait until the gate opened. Pain au chocolat and breakfast baps kept us going! An 8 hour flight later we were in Toronto. WIth it being 31oC we were less than enthusiastic about the thought of a bus and two street cars to get to the hostel so managed to get a limosine for $50 (not too bad as the journey was around 35 mins long). Arrived at the hostel to find an adequate double room with the added bonus of TV, fan (essential with the heat) and a balcony. We had a quick shower before going out to explore Toronto. By the time we'd walked to the CN Tower (about 20 mins) the heat meant that it was hazy so we decided to go up tomorrow. Instead we ambled around Chinatown, the Financial District and along the harbour. Being Canada Day/ Weekend there was lots going on at the waterfront including Mama Lu (supposedly the strongest woman in the world), a man balancing very large rocks (actually more intriguing than it sounds, pictures to follow!) and Bangra dancing! By that point it was 5pm Toronto time (10pm by our body clocks), very hot and we were exhausted. We've been having a quiet evening with a short walk around Little Italy and to admire some of the architecture (very adult of us!) and watching the world (including a Highland band) go by from our balcony. Both exhausted so will have early night with more fun tomorrow.
Will put pictures on towards the end of our time here all in one go.
