CLAIRE'S BIRTHDAY!!!

We spent the morning celebrating Claire's birthday along with the Kangaroos and of course the rain! We then set off, with hopes of doing the Great Ocean Road but it turned out to be a lot longer than we had anticipated and the weather was still letting us down so we thought we might as well go straight to Melbourne.

After navigating our way through the very streets of Melbourne that are shared with trams and have lanes to turn right on the the far left hand side of the road, we got to our accommodation. A hostel that used to be an old nunnery and still has all the old decor to go with it. We dumped our bags and walked into the city centre to do the only thing you can do in a huge city like Melbourne - shop! And now after 7 months of constant struggling Claire has got the one thing that she has needed more than anything else - a hairdryer! Apparently, even though she has coped this long with out one, she actually 'needs' it.

In the evening w went down Lygon Street which is also dubbed 'Little Italy' for the amount of Italian restaurants there are - we were in our element! We had a great meal and then went onto a comedy club, which we had pre booked earlier. When we got there they were serving the dinners that we were planning to order but tey were booked up, all we can say is that we are very pleased they were booked up! We found some seats towards the back and prepared ourselves for a good laugh - 2 of the comedians were quite famous over here though we hadn't heard of them. They didn't dissappoint, all 4 comedians were hilarious - Claire even got every joke!! We probably didn't stop laughing for th 3 hours that we were there. The multiple bottles of red wine probably helped a little as well.
