Unfortunatley it rained most of the night, but our tent didn't leak which was a good thing. We booked onto a croc spotting tour for this evening and spent the afternoon doing nothing.
Normally from our experiances with most wildlife and tour guides in Oz, they tend to be loud, motivated fun, Steve Irwin wannabes. Our croc spotter was more like an accountant, he just seemed uninterested. We boarded his boat/bus type thing and we were the only guys there. First of all we had to look at a crab that he had caught earlier, if they had been big enough we have been given them to take home for tea, fortunately they were too small. Then we set off to hunt the crocs! Jeff, our accountant turned croc spotter, wasn't the 'knowledgable guide' that we had been promised when we had booked it. We asked him some basic questions about crocodiles that we thought he should have known - "Where do crocs sleep" "Do they like the sunshine" What colour are crocs" but his answer was always "I dunno". This didn't make us too confident about spotting any crocs, especially as when we drove for about an hour looking for 2 big crocs that were apparently always there, we didn't see anything and Jeff just said "oh well, we tried..." He was so miserable!
Eventually as it turned dark, crocs were easier to spot - their eyes glow up in the dark a menacing red colour. We did see some small baby crocs but nothing big enough to kill anything bigger than a very small fish. So all in all it wasn't the best tour we had been on!
