Early Start this morning as we made our way down to the marina in the hope of feeding wild dolphins! There was one male of 18 years old that the staff at the marina called Mystique who had been coming to the shore for years to let gawping tourists feed him a few fish. There can be sometimes up to 4 dolphins all part of the same family or pod. Mystique was covered in scars and had chunks taken out of his fin from battles with other dolphins and sharks.
We all took it in turns to feed him a fish where he swam right up to us and gently took it from our hands. In total we fed him 3 Kg of fish - about 10% of his daily diet. This is because they want him to remain wild and not dependant on humans to feed him. Not a bad free brekkie though!
Next it was time to go sailing. Yesterday we had met a bloke called Brian, who had a boat at the marina and would be happy to take us out for the morning/day for free! Well, we weren't going to let an opportunity like that pass by! Brian was a true Aussie. Every other word that came out of his mouth was a swear word, he had a huge bushy grey beard and was a great character to meet! His boat was a catamaran and as he took us out we all chatted and had a good laugh whilst he would sing along to the radio but not know one word to the songs! It was a bit cold unfortunately and the wind wasn't too strong but we got quite far out past loads of beaches and islands, it was at this point Brian began to tell us his stories of capsizing boats and crashing boats in the past and how funny it had been! Fortunately Brian didn't manage to capsize it today! Once we got back to the marina we got back into Frank and drove on to Hervey Bay!
We briefly stopped at the town of Maryborough - a town dedicated to Marys, as the author of Mary Poppins was born here! There's even a museum dedicated to people in history who have been called Mary! If you're called Mary you get free entry! The girls wasn't too interested in this though so as much as Dav wanted to check out the Mary museum we never went. We did see a statue of Mary Poppins though that was a little disappointing to be honest - it was tiny!
We finally made it to Hervey Bay - a day late and again we checked into a huge cabin!
We had another quiet night playing cards drinking wine and trying to decide what to do tomorrow!
