8am start this morning and was lead to our boat by the most unfriendliest girl we have come across so far. Devil woman is her name. We soon set sail along the perfume river - in the rain...again! The trip took us to several tombs and pagoda's and when you have a guide who speaks very little English and doesn't accompany you to some of the sites, we and quite a few others soon lost interest! Arrived at 9am to the town of Hue- Bombarded by touts and finally settling for a hotel at 10$ a night, (it was only 10$ because we were on the seventh floor of the hotel with no lift - noticing a theme of steps for our travels!) we dropped our bags off and had a look round Hue. Met up this morning with Klara, a girl from Brighton, we met las night and planned to do the tours with today. We'd planned to share a car and a driver, but that worked out to be more than twice as expensive as a motorbike and driver each, so that's what we ended up with. Another early start this morning but instead of a nice fry up we had to hit 10 million steps to get to the top of one of the islands - again not the best news we could have heard. Bright and early get up this morning for our 8am bus to Halong Bay. A 3½ hour bus journey and we were there with the rest of our group, faced with 100's of junk boats. We clambered over about 3 boats to get to ours - not easy work when you've got a 12kg bag on your back!
