We left Charlotte and headed north on one of the drives that I was looking forward to, and yet not looking forward to. On the map it looked like nice country and should be nice scenery, and on the other hand, was going to be close to Washington and all of the traffic that would be associated with that.
Despite being a Sunday, the usual plethora of trucks were on the road, occupying the right lane, except on those occasions when they wanted to overtake another truck doing 60mph. They would move into the left lane and do 62mph to overtake the previous truck. Of course, this would take at least 5 mins by which time the traffic would build up. And build up. And build up. Or there would be the case of the little granny out for a Sunday drive at 62mph occupying the left lane as in her day there would only be one lane and she occupied it.
Regardless, we made it into Harrisburg relatively easily and found our hotel to be very pleasant, with a large open area near the reception where they had build a second storey taking up part of the room, but leaving enough open to make it appear a lot roomier. Katie and I had spotted a restaurant next door, so headed over to check it would be open and book a table. This was no problem and the waitress even recognised our accents.
When our meals arrived, there was a server for each of us and we had to repeat what we had ordered so there they could all hear out Strine.
