Back in Santiago after one of those days which is mostly taken up by waiting and travelling. Breakfast really isn’t up to much here, and even the croissants are stale, the coffee is burned and bitter and it is still constantly drizzling.
However, we have been extremely lucky so far on this trip and the weather has no real effect on the travel today. My driver picked me up just after 9:45 and the trip to Puerto Montt was pleasant and short. Small airport, very crammed with people heading mostly to Santiago. The flight was likewise quite short and uneventful and then we arrived back into Santiago, this time in the domestic part of the airport. And this is where TISA happens again. A massive airport setup and then run down with around 8 baggage claims available but only one working, three sets of toilets, but two of them closed and around five flights arriving at roughly the same time. Bedlam. As such it took a long time to get the luggage sorted and out of the terminal. The Holiday Inn was just across the road so it was a quick trip dodging past the numerous taxi drivers being fairly insistent that you take theirs over anyone else’s, and despite 15 people before them asking, the traveller MIGHT just accept their taxi.
Check in was a breeze as per normal for a big chain, and the room, despite being quite basic was comfortable enough. As it was going to be an early start on the morning I had an early dinner (for South America) and the best steak I had enjoyed since the Tango night.
