Puno is a town on the Peruvian shore of Lake Titicaca and it was our base either side of a homestay at a rural village on the lake, Llachón.
This is another blog entry that was lost when my BlackBerry wiped my messages so unfortunately I don't have many details...
We took a boat trip out on the lake and visited the small island of Taquile. After exploring for a while we had lunch there and some local people talked to us about their traditional clothing and the crops that they grow. They also played music and taught us some dances.
It was a special experience staying in the rural community in Llachón for a couple of days, with families that observe a more traditional lifestyle. Denise and I were assigned to the same "Mama" who had two small children, Sonia and Ebar. I had great fun giving them a hand with weeding their crops, playing volleyball with them and even dressing up in traditional clothes for a special group dinner followed by music and dancing around a camp fire.
