We spent much time of the standing in line at the EuroRail ticket place, which was where we would buy tickets to get to Rome. It was definitely NOT convenient. Everything was booked, our route down to Rome will be more adventurous and we have an extra day in Paris. Then, we spent some time looking in shops on the way back to our hostel. Back at our hostel, we asked the guy at the reception desk for another night, but they were booked. So, we needed good priced hostels in Paris. Not much available with the holiday and the Rolando Garros tournament. He gave us a name, and we left. We made a wrong turn, but it was towards the Eiffel Tower, so we continued on our way. A corner grocery store pulled us in, to buy a lunch for later. The streets were lined with clothes shop after clothes shop, and we only stopped in a few. We stopped for lunch in a sand park. We had these waffle things, but they just tasted like doughnuts. Once we crossed a bridge, the outdoor souvenir shops started. There were many good prices for beautiful paintings, Eiffel Tower key chains, and more. In the distance, the Eiffel Tower stood above everything. As the Eiffel Tower came up, so did my neck. The tower is massive, and it's presence is strong. When we got enough pictures, we walked away, ready to find our way back to the hostel. We stopped to ask for directions, as well as an ice cream stop. When we finally reached our hostel, we hung out in the main lobby for awhile before we crashed. We basically walked through all the major tourist areas of Paris.....I'd say approximately 6miles. The people were lovely: honest, kind, and beautiful.
