It's been a relaxed day here in Himachal. I got up around 9 and decided it best to head into the Himalayas earlier rather than later to beat the rain. I promptly headed uphill in completely the wrong direction. After heading downhill and having a strong coffee I found the right way to the Bhagsunang Waterfall.
On the way there I passed through the Bhagsu Hindu temple. Bhagsu is a strange touristic town, the upper reaches the preserve of hippies and backpackers, the lower flatter areas the preserve of ugly concrete hotel complexes. The hindu temple seemed to double up as the local swimming pool. It's nice to actually go to places like that that are in use rather than just soulless touristic attractions.
The trail to the Bhagsunang waterfall is a well-trodden one. These are the low foothills the Dhalaudhar Range, and so the scenery was very green and lush. There were a couple annoying locals wanting their photos with 'random white guy' again but other than that it was very enjoyable. Especially, the upper reaches of the waterfall, as up there were only a handful of European tourists, much more tranquil than the lower down spot which had throngs of Indian tourists taking selfies.
The mist descended, as did many an inquisitive goat. It was nice being in a peaceful forested mountain range lapped with mist, Tibetan prayer flags waving. It was soon time to descend back to Bhagsu. I've had a divine Tikka Masala curry and now I'm a bit stuck with what to do. I'm very ready to leave tomorrow and go somewhere a bit more exciting. But it was nice to be in this quite unique and relaxed little spot nestled in the beautiful Himalayas.
Oh and I saw my first Monsoon shower! Only lasted a couple hours though.
Alavida!
