Stonehenge is the best known prehistoric stone circle. It's name is actually the generic for the ancient monuments. A henge is a circle and if it is completed with stones, then it is a .... stone henge. The site is run by English Heritage and is very strictly controlled. I have and all too brief visit to Oxford. I do so want to see more! It is wonderful. I only had an hour, but during that time I was able to get a glimpse of about 6 of the colleges, to visit an exhibition at the Bodleian, and to wander briefly in the Covered Market that was moved to Turl street in 1772 when it outgrew it's site on Carfax.
