Hello lovely people,
Should start with a thank you to everyone who has enquired about my sister. She is ok now after being at home for a couple of days she was rushed back into hospital in extreme pain. But she's ok because she has my mum staying with her!
Get well soon big sis and hope you had a good birthday.
Also, i wasn't going to add this to the blog because i didn't want to upset my mum, but I told her now so i can share it with you!
When I was bit by the mosquitoes in Beijing, the next day I woke up unable to open my eye! I woke herman to tell him and his response was "oh dear" and then he fell straight back to sleep! So I woke him again and told him I really could not open my eye. At this point he was a bit more awake/panicked!
So we got dressed and went to ask in the reception where the nearest english speaking doctor was, they where equally freaked out and one of the girls actually took us there herself which was nice, anyway when we got there they sent us straight to the hospital (eeek) :(
So a 20 minute taxi ride later, we arrive at the Friendship hospital looking for the international department. We find the reception desk take 5 minutes to fill in the forms and another 5 minutes waiting in the eye department and we where seen by the eye specialist (if this was the UK, I'd still be waiting) his english was not fantastic, but he was very thorough and friendly he explained i needed to rub orange on my eye 3 times a day until it opened (Turned out he meant ointment) we went straight to the pharmacy paid £25.00 for the cream and that was that. In and out within 30 minutes and they where busy.
I have added a photo of my eye only look if you have a strong stomach (sorry i do look a
little rough!)
The cream worked really quickly and within 24 hours it had started to go down, although
even now there is still a little pink mark over my eye.
This will be an update about us (Or me) rather than travel stuff, so my next personal
adventure was mouth ulcers/tooth ache, I ignored this for a few days until Herman noticed I wasn't eating as much as normal!! I thought it was just an ulcer or i'd bit my cheek, but when i showed Herman he was adamant he could see a tooth coming through. I had 4 wisdom teeth out years ago so i was adamant he was wrong!
But we googled for a english speaking dentist near us in Tokyo just to make sure all was ok, anyway when we got there the dentist had been rushed to hospital and they where closed! Typical. We walked back to the train station chatting about where we should go from here, not to waste too much of the day, when we noticed another dentist. We went in and the receptionist spoke no English, so she went to get a patient (!) who spoke perfect english we explained to him what the problem was and he told the dentist who had by now come out to see what was going on!
He was happy to take a look, and as soon as I had opened my mouth he was yes, new tooth. Apparently number 8 molar or wolf tooth! it seems ok now not pushing any other teeth so i will wait until i have to have it out.
Possibly Herman's old dentist in South Africa. The dentist gave me some anti inflammatory and charged me £7.00 for everything. (I went for a check up before leaving home it cost me £30)
At this time I have no pain and not on any antibiotics, anti inflammatory or creams!
And Herman is still fine and a happy traveller!
Christina
