Hi everyone,
I know we haven't been in touch very much so far but we have literally been all over the place! We began in Singapore which was easily the cleanest and safest place we have visited thus far. The metro system was second to none and London could take a few lessons from them thats for sure! We also both managed to get sun burnt on the very first day and also swore not to walk more than 10 metres with our bags again as we almost collapsed. We had all good intentions though before we left Blighty!
Following on from a few days in Sunny Singapore we arrived in monsoon ridden Phuket (Thailand). The flight was awful! having quite a nasty hangover from our departing night with a few friends we flew through some heavy turbulance. We managed to keep everthing down which is more than can be said for the people sitting around us! All this aswell as the recent news following an acident at Phuket airport only a few weeks before didnt rest easy either. Needless to say however we arrived safe and sound to hit Patong Beach.
Patong is definately a place I will not forget. Very cheap in every sense of the word i think best describes this place. On our immdiate arrival we were told with some assurance and wait for this.....'don't play the ladyboys at connect four' which i thought was a fantastic bit of advice for any would-be traveller. Aparently they are pretty good at the game, but me and Steve took quite a wide berth whenever we saw them as we heard a few stories of muggings and violence. Still, the drinks were flowing easily enough and we made some good mates.
From here we went to Phuket Town where I had to leave my phone to get fixed, hence no photos yet. We only stayed a day and then hit Phi Phi Island, To describe this place i'll leave it to one of the bell boys who shouted to all passengers on the ferry, 'welcome to paradise' and he wasn't wrong! with mile after mile of golden sandy beaches and crystal blue seas. We made so many friends here a few of which we are meeting later in our journey. Needless to say, the beer once again flowed freely and there was a real rasta feel to the place. We had beach parties and fire shows everyday and the beer only cost about 90p a bottle. We even had time to visit the beach from 'The Beach' which is situated in a beautiful cove called Maya Bay. The only draw back was it was really popular to tourists and the place was quite busy but we still had fun travelling there and back on a Longtail Boat.
Finally we have arrived back in Phuket to pick up my phone and then i'll be able to send some pics back home, hopefully!
We are going on to Koh Lanta next and then on to the Temples at Krabi before the Full Moon Party in Koh Pangnan. I will try and write again before then but if I don't you'll know why!
'Peace & Love' Phi Phi Island style
