Hello again,
We've had the best day in Luang Prabang!
Thought it would be difficult to beat yesterday's,but it did!
After a late rise,we ventured out to the town for breakfast before grabbing a Tuk-tuk to the Kuang Si waterfalls & bears!(opted out an elephant tour as no doubt we'll see them in India).
Joined by a couple of French business students travelling on their term break our driver 'Tue' drove us through the quiet villages for just over an hour before we eventually made it to the bear sanctuary.
The bears were great.Best of all, they looked so happy! All 6,standing just over a metre, black with White crescent moon-shaped fur around their necks fidgeted, relaxed & played in their spacious area equipped with tyre swings, bear hammocks?,tree stump
Seats. We later read that scattered around the area were bamboo treats, filled with honey! Enjoyed it so much we couldn't not give a donation.
We then trekked our way to the waterfalls and couldn't believe what we saw.Brilliant blue, gushing waterfall pools in the sun, surrounded by hundreds of trees and the odd purple flower.
I tested the water...freezing.There were several pools, the first ones no-one swimming in them (guessing you couldn't?) but once we go to the thrid there were a dozens of tourists around the biggest, watching those few that were brave enough to go in.
In we went!
Stepping in,trying not to slice our feet open on the sharp rocks we slowly made our way to the middle of the pool which was the suniest/warmest.
More concerned about something possibly nibbling at our feet than the coldness we scullied against the strong current, enjoying the clear-blue water, the surrounding area and the show-offs swinging from the tree-tops and diving off the tops into the pool.
Never one to turn down the opportunity of danger when dangled in front of me,straight to the top of the waterfall (going directly into this pool) I went and jumped straight in.ninja.
Not content with such a small dose of adrenaline, soon as I go out I tried the swing from the high tree hovering over the pool, which was even more fun!
Further we went up the waterfall going passed more pools, eventually meeting the biggest.very loud.
We tried going up and around but it was quite steep, didn't have the appropriate footwear & we didn't fancy getting lost.
The best day was topped off with a vegetarian buffet dinner just off the night Market.Just over £2 for both of us.result!
Feeling very lucky to be here.
Tomorrow we plan to just relax by a pool somewhere (our place doesn't have one) and book our bus to Vuang Vien.
