I have arranged to stay with Debbie in Rockingham through Couch Surfing, despite hearing so much about it, this is the first time I have actually decided to give it a try. So I travel by train where I am greeted by a big hug from Deb and she drives me to her beautiful home. She lives here with her son David and dog Sophie, this is their first month as couch surfing hosts. It really is like joining a family, there seems to be about 4/5 travellers there at any one time and everyone is so friendly.

So far in the house I have met, Lisa and Renarta from Italy, Alex and Gaelle from France, Natalie also from France, Carina from Austria, Bret and Ash from Australia.

Deb is such an amazing host, she is so keen for all her guests to have a great time and see the local area. The house is right near the beach so we go for walks with Sophie along the beach, the sunsets here are stunning and there doesn't seem to be that many people taking advantage of this wonderful place. We also visit Mandurah to see the Sunday markets, Cottesloe to see the Sculptures by the Sea and Fremantle the trendy town in the area.

I did not intend to spend my 3 weeks in Perth in Debbie's house, but it was just so lovely I couldn't bring myself to leave. I could easily live in Western Australia, if the East Coast is not for me I will definitely be coming back. I have made some great friends here and cannot wait to see them again wherever, whenever that may be…
