So today I have decided to travel to Bhaktapur as I keep meeting people who say how amazing the medieval city state is. I decide to try and take the local bus, but not really have any idea where the bus stop is, they aren't exactly signposted here in Nepal. I opt for getting a cycle rickshaw to the bus stop, after attempting to ask many non-English speaking Nepali's which bus to get I finally find the right one and hop on. To make my adventure even better just as we are pulling away a English couple jump on and we spend the whole journey chatting making the time pass by much quicker. Fortunately the man was paying attention and noticed when we were at my stop (they were continuing on further) and I hurried off just before it started to pull away again.
So I have now arrived in Bhaktapur, it is such a lovely place, just wandering through the streets is great. There is a hefty entrance fee to get into the main tourist area, but well worth it. As usual in these kinds of places you are immediately attacked by a sting of guides wanting to show you around. Being low season now, the price seemed to be pretty good and the man spoke very good English so I decided to get a guide to show me around. The city is mainly made up of Temples, but you can also travel through the back streets and get an insight into village life here.
After spending a few hours exploring I decide to head back to Kathmandu, so another attempt at finding the correct bus, I eventually get on the right one, it seems much nicer this one, but it would appear to be made for incredibly short people even I had my knees squashed up against the seat in front. Another good day for my solo travelling confidence!
