We left Somerset on a typically wet day and headed for London Gatwick. A night in the Aurora hotel. Chris slept well whilst Diana watched a film had a bath and generally failed to catch a wink, fortunately all responsibility to make sure we got on the flight fell to Chris and Diana followed along like a sleepy sheep. The obligatory breakfast at Garfunkels and a spot of necessary pre flight shopping ensued and we boarded flight TOM038 to Cancun in good order. Eleven hours on a plane tends to be quite dull, but punctuated by sleeping watching films, in flight nosh and winning 1 million pounds on the in flight who wants to be a millionaire passed the time. When we arrived at Cancun they were unwilling to let us off the plane until we had completed a visitors visa which was dutifully stamped and probably binned by the authorities. An interesting customs game with a big red button that you each have to press. Green for go and red for we want to have a best through the contents of your luggage. It may have been that Chris spoke too soon when she said that she always ends up being stopped by these things, but in actually fact it was Diana who had the joy, and I think perhaps the rogue teddy bear caused some hilarity with the customs staff.
We then escaped the building which allowed Diana to have a well deserved cigarette whilst we waited for the coach to take us to the hotel after the obligatory wait for the last 2 people.
Jose then introduced us to the area and especially where the tequila tasting shop was, chocolate or mango tequila anyone.
As usual for us we were the last drop off point but first impressions of hotel were good, form filling a bit difficult as neither of us had any brain cells working by that point. Dinner, drinks and bed was all we could manage - not forgetting of course the mandatory first dip of the toes in the sea!
