After having an amazing 6 weeks off, 3 in the UK and 3 in Germany, we are finally, after many months of planning and working we are flying to India.
Reaching the airport we checked in and found out that Mandy and I are not sitting next to each other...even though that's what we booked. The young guy at the desk was kind enough to organise Business Class seats for Mandy and I to apologise for the mix up.
That was a great flight. The best i've had. Arriving at Oman we changed flights and fly, standard class, to New Delhi.
New Delhi IS as crazy as people say it is. New Delhi IS as busy and over populated as people say it is. And New Delhi IS as hot as people say it is.
There is no such thing as driving in New Delhi. It's just cutting in, swerving left, right and the left again. It's absolute chaos. Which makes it kinda exciting.
Being picked up at the airport by the guest house employee 'Alibaba', we took at tuk-tuk (a motor bike/3wheeled car/moped, with the abilities of going 15 m/hr and swerving in and out of traffic), to the guest house.
The first day we just explored New Delhi and Old Delhi Bazaars. They are unique in their own ways. But both show very similar points of interest; mangled yet functional, tangled yet somehow organised electricity poles, a.k.a. An electricians nightmare.
Taking the day easy and to just adjust we are relaxing and going to explore more of Delhi tomorrow, when everything is open because everything is closed on Monday...who would have thought, a place where people could enjoy waking up on a Monday morning and think "I don't have to work today."
Tomorrow here we come...
