Our first place to stay in New Zealand was the wonderfully named 'Fat Camel' ijn Auckland. We soon realised that it was the perfect place top have picked when we saw the sign 'Mud Wrestling in the bar. Tonight'. More of that later.
We decided to make the most of Auckalnd. as at the time we though we only had one day here. However, a minor mishap with the bus schedule meant that we now had three days here. Not a problem.
After sorting ourselves out at the hostel, we set out to explore the city which, for the record, will probably be the nicest city we visit (don't hold me to that though). It wasn't long before we saw the famous Sky Tower came into view. It's hard to miss what with it being 328m tall! An opportunity not to be missed you say? Too right. For a surprisngly small price you can go up as far as 220m. We went speeding up the lift at a crazy 8kph and stepped out onto the enclosed platform. Talk about seeing the sights! You could see the whole of Auckland and the moutains beyond! I'll be honest, there was a lot of tentativeness on mjy behalf and it wasn't until the end I was able to go right up to the edge and lean on the glass. I'm glad I did. There were glass bottom floors, thankfully as thick as concrete, which made the experience even more extreme.
In the evening we were treated the mud wresting tournamnet. Only girls were allowed to take part I should point out, although when the bell sounded, they weren't half vicious. So turned out to be a pretty good evening as you can imagine!
