Chris & pauls world trip
Mon 21st
Arrived in Perth hoping it was going to be a bit cooler, no such luck this has been the hottest March for years. ( 42 deg) Perth is a beautiful city with lots to do and see. Paul and I took a boat ride to Freemantle about an hours cruise up the Swan river to the Indian ocean. On the way back we saw some dolphins which really made our day.
Wed 23rd
We met up with some members of the Smith family today and went out for a meal with them, it was a great night out and it was lovely for Lisa to meet her Dad's cousins and we were made very welcome.
.
Thurs 24th
The four of us went on the ferry across to Rottnest Island, it is only a small island and used to be a prison for the Aboriginies and is now a holiday resort. The island is surrounded by crystal clear waters that dolphins and stringrays come to visit. It was lovely swimming in the sea and the beaches were very quiet and relaxing , trouble was you couldn't sit there for long because of that horrible sun. The island is inhabitated by some really friendley creatures called Quokka's, they look like a cross between a small kangeroo and a large rat, they were lovely.
Good Friday 25th
The shops are all closed today and the pubs so we had a good walk down by the river and spent a couple of hours updating the web site. We went off to a barbeque in the evening to Steve and louise's house (friends of Paul's) who used to live in Leicester. It was a beautiful house with swimming pool and we spent a very pleasant evening with good food and great company. ( thanks Steve and Louise)
Sat 26th Pauls birthday
We all went to Sally and Dave Smith's house today(lisa's cousins) we spent a lovely day doing a bit of sightseeing, swimming in the pool and then another Aussie barbeque. Sally and Dave's neighbours and friend's came (all English) it was great, like home from home.
Sun 27th
After staying overnight with Sally and Dave they took us back to our hotel and we said our goodbye's with promises to return one day.
In the afternoon we went to Heather and Malcolms on the other side of perth. Heather is our neighbours sister. We had never met before but she got in touch with us through our website and invited us to their home. They took us to a winery where you can sample all the different wines, everybody had a good time. We then went on to German brewery and had a meal while listening to a german band. It was soon time to leave and pack up again for our last port of call in Singapore. Thanks Heather and Malcolm for your hospitality.
