Today we did a four-hour hike along the Eagle Creek Recreation Trail in the Columbia gorge near from Portland. It was a beautiful trail through semi rainforest (who knew there was semi rainforest in Oregon). There were so many plants on all levels - underbrush, vines and trees - just breathtaking. We stopped and soaked our feet in the glacier fed stream, while watching two girls leap from a ledge above - we were sure that one of them was going to hurt themselves, before turning back from whence we came.
In the evening we went to a soccer game at PGE Park - or so we thought we were going to a soccer game until we had bought our tickets and were inside. It turns out, it was the AAA baseball game between the Portland Beavers and the Salt Lake City Bees - Ben had misread the schedule JLisa, Ben and Natasha decided to cheer for the home team, while Chris, being the stirrer of pots, chose to root for the Bees.We enjoyed all the delights of the baseball stadium: hotdogs, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, cotton candy and beer.Chris was making the people in front of us crack-up while he extolled the virtues of the bees such as"Ever since I've followed triple A, I've been a Bees fan" and "Wait for this, Coon's our best player and he's having a killer season" while Natasha hunted down the Beaver's mascot "Lucky" for a picture (Natasha: I was waiting in line behind all these kids for a picture with Lucky and autograph, when the 7th inning stretch came on and he ran off - just left us all hanging!I was determined to have my moment with my mascot idol.I spotted him on the other-side of the stadium, sitting in the first row, so I made my way over through the stands, sat down beside him and grabbed a quick snap. How dare he try to thwart me!)
