Well, it has been a while since we last updated the blog so we'll keep it brief.
Glover's reef in Belize was pretty wet but we amused ourselves by living on a staple diet of coconuts and rum. It was great to hang out with Simon and Helen and although brief, the snorkelling was good too.
After Glovers we headed up to Belize city with another brief stop in Placencia along the way. Simon's haggling secured us a sweet deal on a place to stay and we experienced the sunshine we'd been chasing all trip!
Our week at home was pretty manic but it was great to see our families although a bit brief.
Jemma and Paul's wedding was beautiful, it was good to see Chris' friends from Reading and the free bar made for an interesting evening. Chris was regretting that last rum and coke when he woke, hungover and unable to move due to the shapes he'd thrown on the dance floor.
Chris' birthday did not get off to the best of starts ending up down to his boxers in a small room with two strange men asking him if he liked Bob Marley - After the amount it was overplayed in Belize the answer was a firm "no" but that did not deter them from meticulously searching the lining of his pockets presumably for a rogue bud of weed. It didn't get much better after the most thorough customs search and jet lag creeping up.
It was Lucy's intention to go for a traditional Arabic Hammam treatment whilst in Dubai. Unfortunately every spa was fully booked. What a stroke of luck when she found a slot available. We jumped in a taxi on our way to the Jebel Ali hotel. What we didn't realise was quite how far away it was, 30 minutes later we're still travelling and the meter still ticking over.
All in all the transport came to half the price of the treatment!
The treatment itself was interesting, expecting a traditional Arabic treatment Lucy was surprised to be scrubbed vigorously from head to toe by a small Malaysian woman while Chris watched Prison break in the lobby.
Dubai, what can we say? The hotel was nice...
Indonesia has been a total contrast. The people are so welcoming and warm.
After arriving in Jakarta we took a train the following day to Yogya where we are now. We travelled first class, thank god it wasn't standard class, first class means a seat rather than the roof! Nevertheless, it did take 5 hours longer than expected. Gotta love it!
Today we visited the Buddhist stupa at Borobodor and tomorrow we're visiting the Hindu ruins and going to the famous ballet.
