Hello everyone
Bangkok - our first destination in Thailand. Arrived 11pm to 30 degree heat! Great arriving to a posh hotel with a lovely room on the 20th floor - not quite the pent house but not far off! Fresh orchids on the bed everyday and a huge buffet breakfast.
Our first day we explored Chatuchak market - about 9,000 stalls packed together in crowded, bustling, smelly, hot market. You could buy anything there from books, clothes and CDs to dogs, huge fish and snakes. There were tons of food sellers with all kinds of interesting looking food! We weren't quite brave enough to buy from the street carts but we found a little market 'restaurant' serving typical Thai food with a good chicken fried rice. The market was amazing but exhausting in the heat!
We visited the Grand Palace and got to wear some interesting clothes to cover up - no pictures of this, sorry! Got driven around for the morning in a limousine for about 4 pounds! Then we explored by ourselves, bartered with the tuk tuk drivers and held on for dear life as they sped around the streets of Bangkok. Got a bit lost and had some interesting experiences trying to communicate with the locals to get directions!
We went shopping and got slightly overwhelmed by the number and size of the shopping malls! Kate spent a day in bed (poorly not lazy!) so Chris was very studious and worked on his music all day!
After 4 days in the crazy but interesting city of Bangkok we took a short flight up to Chang Mai in the north. You'll hear about this soon!
Lots of love Chris and Kate xxx
