Hello everyone. We're now in Mombasa enjoying a few days by the Indian Ocean after our strenuous safari! Time also to recover from nasty mosquito bites!! The hotel is great and food surprisingly good. Our first day we arrived to gorgeous sunshine and tropical paradise. Yesterday and today have been overcast and today we've had tropical rains. This has given us time to read and even lie on sunbeds - in the wind! So for those of you worried about potential sunburn, we think we'll be ok! We're thinking about going to the gym after a large piece of marble cake but we'll have to keep you posted on whether we make it there!

For those of you interested, Mombasa is actually on an island so to get to the beaches you cross a bridge either to north or south. We had an interesting arrival by air. Approaching the runway we suddenly found the plane accelerating and climbing steeply upwards. Some steep turns too! Eventually we were told that we couldn't land because of engineers on the runway!!

The lizards here are interesting. Multicoloured and some of them quite big. Thankfullly not in our room! Though we did have an unexpected visitor before we got up yesterday - someone wanting to clean the room - they start early!

Tomorrow we're hoping for sunshine before we head back to Nairobi and before we travel on to Johannesburg on Monday.
