Righty Ho,
Our journey north continued to Buenos Aires the busseling capital of Argentina. Its probably the city i have enjoyed the most on this trip, infact it might be the best city I´v ever been too. Even Paddy enjoyed it, and thats saying something.. he really isnt a city person! Its busy and bright with tons to do, our stay was a lot of fun.
We learnt to dance the Tango (we are now all experts of course!) and chilled out in sunny cafes watching the busy sunday antiques market. We visited Eva Parons tomb in the most spectacular grave yard full of massive crypts covered in statues. It was a funny place, i found it strangly relaxing and peaceful, it was really odd.
We also had a taste of the famous Buenos Aires nightlife with a drum and bass night at a local club (Paddy was very excited!!). Funny thing was the dj was English and has been known to play at the celler in Oxford. Its a small world!
A drumming extrabaganca (i get points for trying to spell it!) is probably my lasting memory of Buenos Aires. Its very hard to discribe but imagine about 20 different drummers playing bongos, bass drums and things that kinda go ting. Its completely improvised, that is they have a conductor of sorts, a chap or chapess who uses loads of weird hand signal (chris and meesh where trying to work it out (geeks)), using there whole bodys to communicate to one person or the whole group what they want them to do. And they all swap round, taking it in turns on different drums and to conduct. The audience, including us, went mad for it. We danced our little travelling socks off! It was spectacular! Chris was a very happy bunny although maybe a tiny bit jelious.. he misses his drum kit!
Our biggest gain in Buenos Aires was an Ed. So, as A. A. Milne puts - now we are 6.. watch out South America!
