hello from laos. well we just endured the longest bus journey ever to reach the border, a journet of about 60km that should have taken about 1/2 hours ended up at a bottom aching 5.... Anyway, we decided to try and make the border crossing before it closed at 5pm, so with seconds to spare (and a few extra baht paid) we made it into laos. After passing through passport control (someone's lounge) we ventured passed the duty free shops (someone's kitchen.....

Ever see that bit in Wayne's World where they 'visit' the different cities....?? well, Hi we're in Delaware.... (aka Chiang Rai). Sure it's a lovely place, lots of nice erm stuff, but we're not sticking around to find out. Yet more temples & markets, we're gonna try converting Budha to beerism - off now to scale his statue & plant a stubby in his palm... TTFN

OK, so we're coming to then end of the Chiang Mai bit now - just waiting for our Vietnam visas to turn up on Friday & we're out of here. It's been a really nice change to the madness of Bangkok. We've spent a lot of time just wandering around and finding the Irish bars.... Sadly they had the cricket on so I just had to stop & watch for a bit (they also had red wine so I didn't mind - Em). Last day in Bangkok. Getting ready for some peace and quiet up north! Today we visited the Chatuchak market it was very busy, hot and had some interesting smells..... could have been chris though. We didnt buy much because I got too hot and bothered and made us come out! Hi all, Hope everyone's having fun at home... We've been here for 3 days now & still haven't got up before 12!! Nothing to do with drinking or partying too much of course, it's just the jet lag... Bangkok's a brilliant mix of bonkers & madness - only braved 1 tuk-tuk ride so far & thankfully neither of us could see where we were going! For some reason Em insisted on walking to the sky train yesterday, so an hour and a half later we went on that for the first time...
