Back again!!!! Been a while we know, errrr sorry. Plane touched down in Cairns & it was still sunny!! Hurrah Found ourselves a nice little backpackers 10 minutes walk from the city centre with a free bus taking us to free meals & cheap (briefly) drinks. We're getting the hang of this backpacking lark. Met lots of people there & had some good nights out. Had enough of sitting around getting a tan & waiting to get drunk, so we booked ourselve...

Yes, I know we arrived in Australia over a month ago, but we've like sooooooooooooooo busy or something! Anyway, got into Darwin in the middle of the night & it was roasting! Very, very, very, very, very nice to be back in an English speaking (sort of) country though. Until we discovery how much things are going to cost over here.... Ouchy! Lots of very nice people to help us out though & we make it to the backpackers with minimal fuss. Dorm time!!!...

It's time for us to leave the tranquility of Candidasa and head south. Bean have already booked their final four nights at the 'Febris Hotel and Spa in Tuban, just south of kuta. Once again we barter with the drivers to find one to take us at the right price. It's a much easier drive back to Kuta, passing through the slightly more upmasrket resorts of Sanur and Nusa Dua. We find Kuta very busy when we arrive, it's the main holiday week of the year...

Time for intrepid travellers to move on. We decide to head for the east coast, which boasts some amazing snorkelling and diving opportunities. We barter the local drivers and make the two hour journey towards Candidasa for a mere £12. We leave the choice of accomodation to Chris (was this a little foolhardy!). We hire a taxi and driver for a trip to the volcano and a temple visit. We are taken by our guide off the beaten track as we pass through local villages and see the real Bali. The drive takes us up through lush forests with breathtaking views leading towards the impressive paddy fields.We arrive at our first, and only, temple visit, only 200 steps we are told.
