Arrived in Santa Cruz early in the morning and headed for the hostel, checked in and discovered we have a TV, like children we were totally excited as we hadn't watched TV in ages. Had a wander round the town and realised if we thought Cochabamba was boring then this place set a new standard. 1.5million people and the place has 2 shops and nothing to do. The highlight of the city was a giant cathedral and we all know how much I love a good cathedral. So the decision was made to sit and watch TV all day.
Went for lunch in another nice Italian, brid claimed it was the best Italian she'd ever had. Like a proper bunch of tourists we headed off to the Irish bar for some beverages. Didn't last long before we were in our beds.
Next day we spent ages trying to find a pharmacy, I am considering injecting Imodium soon, Bolivian food is destroying my stomach. Had some lunch at the Irish bar which wasn't very good. Brid had Irish stew which she didn't look like she enjoyed.
Took a taxi to the bus station to escape boring east Bolivia, the west side is a million times better. Got railroaded by some pushy Bolivian woman into buying tickets for her bus to Asuncion Paraguay. Showed us some nice pictures of a brand new bus which she claimed reclined, and the food was good. Bus was at 8 so we headed back to the hostel to pack our things and go to the supermarket to buy some food for the bus, thank god we did.
Turned up at the bus station again to find the crappiest looking bus ever waiting for us, loosing the will to live thinking about spending 20hrs in this thing we got on hoping it looked worse on the outside, wrong. As brid said it was worse than a Lough swilly bus which must be pretty bad as this thing was rubbish. Seats reclined about 1cm, couldn't stretch our legs, the food was inedible and to top it off there were cockroaches running about at our feet.
