We took our first non-eventful taxi ride to the Underground Backpackers Hostel in Northbridge, tho at 2am in the morning it was a virtual ghost town...its a much bigger place than the one in bangkok, with a bar, pool table, pool and kitchen...the next day was a write-off for me...lack of sleep, travelling and not much food had finally caught up with me...and i spent most of the day in bed
Thankfully that was just a minor blip...since then its been a rollacoaster of emotions...By then it was friday and we decided to do a little sightseeing around Perth...we took a tram through town, past the W.A.C.A cricket ground and the casino, towards Swan River, where the colourful and ever professional Jerry, our driver and the vivacious Jessica, the 'clipper' dropped us off opposite the Bell tower...then we headed towards Kings Park...where we saw a breathtaking view of the city...then we got a tram back with the effervesent Barry, who gave us the works...facts of the town, jokes and even pearls of wisdom...what a legend...!!! We decided to go out that night...and it was the complete oppostite to the ghost-town we had seen when we had arrived in Perth...the place was swarming with people...we saw a few good cover bands...and then randomly bumped into an Aussie, who said he had moved to Perth when he was 13, but was originally from Northolt...the town next to Greenford...how random is that...?
On Sunday we decided to go to Cottleslow beach, as we had heard that the 'Sunday session' was pretty amazing...didnt go on the best day cos it was cloudy and windy...saw loads of peole heading to the Hostel, which had a massive queue outside...we're gonna head down there at the end of the month though
Today, we took a tour around The (Perth) Mint...not as good as the ITV version, but still pretty special...stood proudly behind a bunch of 4yr olds to get my comemorative $2 coin...and found out that im worth $1,508,416 if i was worth my weight in gold...(he's a big boy...!). It was well interesting to here about the Gold rush that brought people over to W.A...and we even got a demostration on how a Gold bar was made...every days a school day...!!!
Went to AQWA the wednesday, which is the Aquarium on Sorrento Quays...the weather was far from inclement...was a beautiful day literally wasnt a cloud in the sky...just baby blue as far as the eye could see...not very good for the cloud game mind...but still was a nice sight...The Aquarium was pretty cool, spent the whole day looking at various species. Highlights inlcluded touching a Stringray (spiggin' awesome), holding a starfish, and seeing a stonefish...they even had a Seal School show...but wasnt very entertaining to be honest...Ed's suggestion of a small clown costume wouldve definately livened up proceedings...then chilled at the beach...Got back to the hostel nd got chatting to a Kiwi called Patrick...played a few games of pool, introduced him to 'Killer' the darts game (memories from Weatley) and then headed out with him and Ed for a wicked night with loads of people from the Hostel
