So after an emotional farewell to Suzie at the airport, Ed and I flew to Fiji...we arrived in Nadi around 4pm...but only got to our hostel around 6ish...even tho our hostel was 10mins from the airport...this came to be known as Fiji time...!!! The first thing I noticed tho was how incredibly friendly the people of Nadi were...and our hostel had a really nice atmosphere to it...plus they did a chicken curry that was on par with my mum's cooking...We ended up chatting to a couple of Northern Irish girls called Leeann and Jenni who were just starting their traveling experience...they seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all, so they were greatful to chat to us...Next day, Ed and I explored Nadi downtown, as Kerry was arriving that evening and we needed to sot out what we were going to do for the rest of the time we were there. We ended up getting stopped in the street by a guy called Moses who wanted us to see his shop...we ended up buying a sharkstooth necklace off him, but he also did a Kava ceremony for us, which was the first of many...it was really cool, though Kava did taste and look a lot like dirty water, but it dopes you up bigtime...Ed was the chief of the ceremony and it was a nice way to start our trip. Later that evening Kerry arrived with a big smile on her face, as it was sunny...bless. We had dinner and then went to see what Nadi nightlife offered, we ended up in a place called Ed's Bar, which was a pretty cool place and the first time since October where i'd seen a congregation of Indian girls...blimey. Jenni and Leeann were there too and we had such a laugh that night dancing to a mix of pop music and bollywood tunes (lightbulb's...!!!)The next day we headed off to Robinson Crusoe Island...Leeann and Jenni had also booked the same tour, so we ended up spending quite a bit of time with them. Also on the tour was anther cool Canadian guy called Chad and a proper funny Irish guy called Peter. The ride to the jetty was amazing, as it reminded me of the journey from Colombo airport to my Grandad's house in Sri Lanka, except for the fact that there weren't random burnt out tanks lying next to the road...this is the place that Sri Lanka could be if there wasnt a war going on. We then got a half an hour trip to a boat to the Island, where we were greated with a Bula welcoming ceremonial song. The Island wasn't as picturesque as you would imagine in the brochures, but it whad such a nice atmosphere and the people on the Island were so cool...we were in a 28-bed 'military' style dorm and had a bucket and sprinkler type cold shower...much to the girls amusement...!!!We had lunch straight away and got to know the other guests on the island...a couple of girls called Serena, Izzy and Helena (who were twins) and couple of guys from Liverpool called Matt and Olivia. We started up playing activities straight off and it was like that all the way through...i wasnt even able to fit in a 15mintue free massage the entire 3nights i stayed there. First up we played Island survivior...a series of games that tested your abilities...our group (Peter, Leeann, Jenni, Kerry, Me and Chad) failed abysmilly, though our single triumph came in the first game, where we had to husk coconuts...i managed one of my own...my nan would be so proud of me...!!! We then followed this with a game of 'Land, Sea., Air', then a spot of Kayaking...where i managed to ride off in the wrong direction...! Then we went off for a herbal medincine hunt, a game of beach vollyball and then a polynesian style dance off...we lost, but our consolation was a shell necklace each...so it wasnt all bad. After dinner we were treated to a entertainment show but the Islanders...a war dance performed by the guys, a polynesian dance by the girls...then a knife dance and fire dance by the guys...the fact that it was at night made it all the more impressive...we ended up seeing that show about 3 times while we were there and it still amazied me...even the fact that they made mistakes while they were doing it. We then had the first of our many Kava introduction ceremonies to the Island. This was performed by the main two guys on the Island called Tuksi and Bill (Cosby). We then played one two many drinking games, before heading down to the beach for a midnight bonfire...was amazing to see ta few shooting stars out there...and Tuk's brough his guitar and played a few songs while we chatted away by the fire...he then left me the guitar and after my obligatory rendition of Save Tonight and Wonderwall...me and Olivia started 'jammin'...while everyone was else was oblivious to or genius...lyrics about our love for the Hoff, i thin will be unrivalled for many a year to come...pure genius...!!! A few of us decided to call it a night by 4am...but Kerry and a few of the others decided that a swim in the pool would be a good idea...i ended up overhearing Kerry in her 'quiet-loud' voice stating 'wow, its just like being on drugs man'...which i later found out was simply her putting her head underneath the water...hahaha woah man its such a buzz. The other highlight of the night was Matt scientifically proving that Gingers were freaks and mutants...lolNext day, a few of us were in desperate need of a lie in and chilling. We said goodbye to Matt, Olivia, Serena, Izzy and Helena...Matt left his Robbie Fowler Autobiography behind which was a bonus. Ended up walking along the beach with Leeann for a while. Quite a few daytrippers arrived on the Island and we joined in a few activites with them. Had a crab race but No. 26 just didnt have the legs...an initial favourite but he fall away early on, and then watched the guys do a bit of firewalking, which was amazing. After the large group left, we had another Kava ceremony overlooking the sunset, which was amazing. I had a 'Tsunami' bowl, which was a massive bowl of Kava, that you had to down in one, otherwise its a big insult...it took me 5mins, but i managed it. We managed to find some dice that night, so we had a massive game of Three Man...much to Chad's delight, though him and I slipped away early to join Tuk's and the others for another 'less-formal' round of Kava. We had another midnight bonfire and again I was on the guitar, this time with a bit more material, but no Olivia to jam with...although a cuple of the new girls, Maive and Geronia (who i called Corona all night) nearly matched her efforts...a song about a kebab shop, with the chorus...Chicken, Chips, Bacon, Cheese...may soon be hitting the airwaves....!!! Leeann ended up passing out on the beach and I had to take her to bed...bless herThe next day we did a spot of coconut jewellry making and then dwe went out in the boat to do a bit of drag net fishing, which was cool...and then a mammoth beach volleyball game. We had another set of arrivals that day and I joined in with the Bula welcoming ceremony on the guitar...tho im pretty sure they all thought i was one of the locals...lol. The next day we caught the ferry back to Nadi, so we had to say goodbye to Leeann and Jenni
