So the road trip continues!
Think this was middle of the third week in Oz, and we we're loving it! So nice to wake up in the morning (sweating as no fan in the van) pack up after our weetabix and set off to wherever we may end up that day! Only had the van for a week but still no arguments over navigation or driving errors, aren't we a good pair! We left Babinda (or babber as we called it) in a hurry and stopped off an hour down the 'highway' at 'Josephine Waterfalls'! Was a really sunny morning, rain finally ebbing now that we we're heading South, and we had a lovely half hour! Tourists we're swimming in the water and sliding down the rocks, but we just admired them because we didn't fancy a dip and have to sit all wet whilst driving! See the pics!
After that we headed towards a town called 'Innisfail' -the clue is in the title as it was a failure of a place with loads of scally teens with love bites, but it had a nice sea view. We stopped off for cheese butties at 'Flying Fish Point' thinking we'd actually see some flying fish, how niave, and then set off again for the next adventure!
As it was getting to 4pm we did a quick stop at 'Mossman Gorge', a lovelyspot where Queeny and all the lads would probably go to on a sunny Saturday afternoon, but it was going overcast and we we're anticipating where we'd stay that night! We found another freebie 'rest area' called Sanders Beach, really nice and recommended by the Camps book. We had our tucker and played cards, with wine, and our candle, and eventually crashed out! The next morning, being disgusted by the 'trainspotting-esque' toilets, we abandoned our idea of slobbing by the sea all day and set off again!
We stopped a couple of hours later at a place called 'Mission Beach', meant to be well nice, lots of resorts and such, but then weather was grey so we agreed to abandon it! What a shame! We went to another rest area that was possibly worse than Babinda as it was on the highway and there was a sign saying 'camp as far away from the waters edge as possible, croc's inhabit this area'…….so off we went again! We drove until we arrived near a city called 'Townsville' - we decided we best get to more populated areas - and found THE BEST CAMP SITE SPOT EVER and had the best time ever!!!! Read the next blog to find out more!
Hope you are all felling good and are well,
Us xx
