Well we've now been on the road for 5 days and although I tend to sleep a lot whilst driving and get my daily dose of Americas next top model, its been really interesting to see the sites of this country that most people wouldn't. On our first night we made it to Louisiana and stayed in and R.V. park. Our first night in the R.V. was pretty good…despite the noise of the critters, which were louder than the sound of the trains that decided to go by at 3am in the morning. Still in the state of Louisiana, the second night we headed to a national park, which was quiet beautiful. Much to my despair, nanna went for a morning walk and spotted not one but two alligators in the river…yeh eff that.
In one day we passed over the Mississippi river and before I knew it we were in Memphis, Tennessee. As nanna and poppa were interested in seeing Graceland we stayed in an R.V. park around there and headed off for a tour of his house, planes, cars and even his grave! Progressive day actually. That night we caught a bus into the famous Beale street which had such an amazing vibe and lots of fabulous lights. We even went on a carriage that was covered in fairy lights and pink flowers, towed by horses. I felt like a princess!
Yesterday we arrived in Nashville, somewhere for some reason I've always wanted to come. Once again, it is so surreal. On one side of town there are farms and paddocks with a country-like lifestyle, while on the other there is a big city filled with incredible shops, restaurants and an abundance of things to do. Last night we went for dinner in the city at the Hard Rock Café & a chocolate factory for dessert. What was on the menu for me?
Dinner: Chicken Burger with Chips (+ half a rack of nannas BBQ ribs)
Dessert: - 7 choc coated Oreos (the best thing in the world)
- 2 Choc coated strawberries
- A 'funky chunky' caramel & choc ice cream
- Cookies and cream fudge
- About 457903 samples of chocolate coated things (marshmallows, pralines, dried fruit, Pringles…yep, prezelts etc)
- A peanut butter cup
- Caramel popcorn (reminded me of Hannah :'))
Did I just eat all that? Hell yeah I did. And 24hrs later, I'm still feeling sick and the bloating isn't disappearing…jee I wonder why!
Well Nashville has been great and now we're making our way up to Pennsylvania with a few stops in between. I can't believe I'm not even half way through this incredible holiday. Its been 20 days and 26 more to come! I couldn't have asked for a better experience and if the next 26 days are half as good as what it has been so far, I will be one very satisfied Australian-gone-American gal.
Although I have to say, I am missing my mum, friends and my dog very much and actually a lot more than I though I would. Oh and I forgot to mention, I've developed a new love…Walmart.
