Fiji was a picture perfect postcard. We stayed on Nadi for our first night before heading to our island 'Barefoot' for Christmas . We had to take a 4 hour speed boat to get there but the weather was beautiful and we island watched the whole way so it went pretty quick . We were greeted onto our tiny island by the staff singing which was lovely. The island was perfect.. We were in paradise. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. We spent the first two days leading up to Christmas chilling, sunbathing, reading , snorkelling and making new friends. Safe to say we loved Fiji. Christmas Day came and we woke to eat our Christmas chocolates and had breakfast. We decided to kayak around the island which was a good idea until we actually got out there. The winds were strong and the island was pretty big it took us over an hour in the heat of the day. After our exercise and nap we deserved our bottle of champagne before our traditional Fijian Christmas dinner. The food was so good and not too far off an English roast. Sadly on Boxing Day we had to leave beautiful Barefoot island to go back to mainland where we would spend another night before heading to Australia. The gorgeous weather , crystal clear waters and beautiful islands of fiji will certainly bring me back. Onwards to Sydney now for new year. We stayed on bondi beach for the first 9 nights. We made loads of friends and had a good time leading up to New Year's Eve. For New Years we got up early to meet Sophie's friends from home and waited for 3 hours in the huge crowds until we finally got into the park where we found a good spot to watch the fireworks. We had to wait all day until 12am and we drank and laughed for 12 hours until the countdown began. The fireworks bgegan and they were breathtaking. We had never seen a firework display like it and it lit up the whole sky. We had a brilliant evening and finally had a New Year to remember!!!!
