Wow, so it has been quite a while since my last post, but to be honest I have been so so busy getting things ready for China and finishing exams that I have hardly had any time! (but I did recently invest in a GoPro for next year, so if I can work out how it works I'll hopefully get some videos up!)
Anyway, last week I headed back up to Isle of Coll for a training week with Project Trust, and I can safely say it was one of the most intense weeks of my life, but also one of the best! I don't want to share too many of Project Trusts secrets about training, but you basically cover anything and everything you can think of about your project and host country, as well as special sessions on how to teach, and we even had to teach our own lessons!(which was a very strange experience, as you are teaching a lesson to native english speakers!) The best part of the week had to be the ceilidh, where everyone just got to let loose and have a good time! This was followed by a lovely walk to the alpacas (yes they have alpacas on coll) which I wouldnt recommend doing at night.. who knew they would be asleep?!
During the week we also found out more about our projects, which was so exciting! Well it was all fun until I found out my classes have 50-60 pupils in them!! I did find out that my project is a new project.. which is quite daunting as it means we have a high level of respect and have to set the bar for everyone else.. I also met my partner, who is also called Laura! She is so nice and its great to finally know who I am spending a year with! (Even if she is slightly crazy...)
Training itself was an amazing experience and I can definitely say that I have made some amazing friends that I hope to keep in contact with in the future, even if there were many debates about the different slang words and accents in Scotland and England! But I guess when you're thrown into a situation where you're all stuck on an island with no signal or internet and are all in the same boat, then it's much easier to create good friendships! (Sounded a bit Hunger Games-esque there.. it's not that bad..)
But anyway, I'm starting to ramble on now, so I guess I'll leave you all with my leaving date! I will be headed off to China on 20th of August, only 7 weeks or so away!
Sorry for such a long post, but I guess that about covers it for now,
See ya!
