This morning we spotted "Wally's" red and white striped shirt in the middle of the Sotomayer square. Priscilla, our walking tour guide is a bubbly, enthusiastic and funny Chilean native. For a few hours we roamed the UNESCO World Heritage streets of Valparaiso. A few highlights:
- The rise and fall of the town was due to gold rush in California. Valparaiso became the hot spot to stop as it was halfway from Europe to CA. Then the Panama Canal was built...
- The 1st South American fire department was built in Valparaiso and was sponsored by USA!
- The graffiti that covers the street walls
- First Protestant church in Latin America
Fauna was said to have the best food with one of the best views in town, so we tested it out. We shared a delicious meal of an array of seafood and were so glad it would be one our last meals in Valpo.
Flagging down a taxi we headed to the town Viña Del Mar. There wasn't much to see but Castillo Wulff which was a neat castle on the water, a casino and a historic waterfront restaurant for happy hour.
Before packing up our bags we spent our last evening at La Conception for a lovely meal.
