Sorrento, what a destination! It is definitely a destination that Carmel and I will never forget you can feel the romance in the air. This is one place we will revisit and spend more time as we loved it!
Although we couldn't fit touring Spain to see the Salvador Dali artworks, I was so lucky! There was an exhibition in Sorrento, I was over the moon and this kicked off our touring. From here we caught a train to Pompeii and had a guided tour this was great, the guide was so animated and full of stories of the day way back then which made it so real. It was quite fascinating yet tragic what happened where the city was covered by half the mountain which exploded upon them. Once a seaside town it is now situated inland due to the amount of rubble which filled in the sea.
The next day we had booked a boat excursion to the Isle of Capri, this was a great decision. Although the day started slow where the group were split onto 3 boats of various types and speeds and we were the last to leave being on the fasted boat which was a large zodiac stile boat with 2x550hp outboard motors. It was spacious enough for 12 of us. Such a great boat teamed up with a great skipper and guide (Fernando) who Carmel thought was easy on the eyes was a recipe for a great day. We jetted out to the island visiting various historical places, spectacular grotto's and natural formations such as arches caves. We stopped a few times also to jump into the sea to cool off and have a swim (finally my first swim in Italy, it was worth the wait!).
We stopped for lunch at Bar Tebius which was one cove away from the town of Capri. On arriving at Capri we caught a cable car to the Main Piazza and walked the streets which were studded with boutique stores with the likes of Gucci, Prada, Dolci & Cabana and the list goes on like rhinestones on a bracelet. This place is definitely for the rich and famous! We had such a great day and it was well worth it.
