I was really excited for today! A day shadowing the air ambulance crew for the Stavanger Hospital. I arrived at the base at 9am sharp, which was only about 100m from my hotel. The crew greeted me and showed me around the base. Included in the crew was the pilot, the 'rescue man' and the doctor. I started my day with a 3 mile walk around the Mosvatnet lake. It was still dark but I had all my reflective gear on so I felt safe. There were lots of people running/ walking around the lake at that time. The sun started to break through towards the end of my walk revealing a beautiful sunrise. Today was a fab first day! I met Sigrun in a hotel lobby at 7.15am after a breakfast of a lovely fruit salad. I was MRSA swabbed (all negative thank god) and Sigrun showed me around the accident and emergency unit. I was blown away with how clean and organised the unit was.
