So we offically loved Melaka, it totally put KL to shame! Such a nice city/town, mega clean, friendly and pretty much one of our most favourite places so far. We stayed in the nicest guesthouse, the River View. We were met by Raymond and Mani, the owners, who were a lovely couple. The whole house was absolutely spotless and they gave you free freshly baked cake - perfect! ;-) The guesthouse looked onto the Melaka river, it had the nicest terrace that looked onto it. Spent every night there having a few beers with Walter and Chloe from Holland.
The journey from KL only took 2 hours on the bus, although we did have to get a shuttle bus from the centre of KL to a temporary bus station a bit further out. That was a experience! As soon as the bus doors opened there were about 20 touts screaming at you to get on their bus, all we could do was laugh!
We had some amazing food whilst we were there, Portugese/Melakan prawns & noodles, satay that you cook yourself (kinda like a fondue) and rice balls - yum yum!! Saw a lot of sites on foot and the next day when we rented bikes. Oh and we even came across a gym! Paid 1 pound to get in. Dean was a happy bunny he got to pump some iron for the first time in over a month!
All in all we're really happy that we made the journey south as Melaka is a wonderful place.
Lots of Love
