Onto our next stop in Bali - Ubud!
Arrived here this afternoon and are now living in a amazing hotel/resort for the next two nights! Room and balcony is huge, and got a four poster bed! :oD The resort has a boarding school kind of thing next to it. Two of the kids carried our backpacks to our rooms - I have no idea how they managed to carry them so easily! Our room looks onto gorgeous gardens, the wildlife is amazing! We're just chilling out in our room and can here so many insects, birds etc. One bird was tapping on the bathroom window trying to get in earlier! He was a bright green colour. Beautiful! Sat on our balcony as the sun was going down listening to one of the kids playing on the Balinese version of a glockenspiel. Was a lovely sound. Instantly felt relaxed. This is definitely the Bali I wanted to see.
Our last day in Kuta yesterday was fab. Hired a scooter and drove to Tanah Lot temple. Had a sore butt by the time we got there, was on the scooter for about two hours on the way there! I think we made a few wrong turnings! haha. The roads are crazy! The temple itself was stunning, it's built on a rock in the sea. It's very touristy though, lots of stalls selling stuff, cafes etc before you actually get to the temple, I thought that spoiled it a wee bit. Made it back to Kuta in 45 mins so no sore butt when I got back to the hotel! We did have a potential police chase!! Everyone seems to go through red lights when there is no traffic coming so we did the same. Shock the Police spotted us and started blowing their whilste at us! We just did a sharp exit and hoped for the best. Luckily they never followed us! Night time we had our party heads on! Met a really nice guy, Kurt from Seatlle, had a few drinks with him in one bar which was super cheap! Don't know if the vodka was actually vodka but who cares! Went to a club called Sky Garden, this was some place! Three floors, with a bar, seating etc on the roof (hence the name!). They hand out free vip passes for free food and drink on the top floor, again the drink was some weird stuff! There was a dance competition on one floor, some amazing dancers, but also so drunk Aussies thinking they can dance!! haha. The floor below that had fire eaters! Got back to our hotel on the back of some young guys scooter, gave him 5000 rupiah, which is less than 50p!
Met so many people already. Austrians, Dutch, Canadians, Dutch and now American. Making so many new friends.
Didn't get a chance to blog about drinking in Raffles, riding a tri-shaw and seeing two Ferraris and a porchse racing down the street in Singapore! Not often you see that happening on a street in Singapore when you've just walked out of Raffles! :oD
