Friday October 5...
So it's been over a week since the last blog update - and it has gone so fast! Last Thursday saw us arrive at Bristol airport to meet up with the Kindread crew and kick off the first leg of our tour with nine shows around Wiltshire, Somerset and then up to Lancashire and the Cumbria region in northern England. So far we've played at the Queen's Head in Box (lovely outdoor stage, and our set got filmed and recorded!), the Three Horseshoes in Bradford-on-Avon (scary farmers here but we got used to them and managed to get everyone grooving!), the Cooper's Arms in Pewsey (Sunday arvo show which came complete with people dancing on tables and with poles- crazy video footage to come!), the Bell in Bath (Monday night show, but still a big crowd getting on it), the White Hart in Atworth (the last of our west country shows and heaps of people in this little pub). We then drove four hours or so up to Lancaster - which is a really groovy old-school town complete with a castle that was converted into a jail and is now a tourist attraction - to play at the Penny Street Bridge hotel. Some very welcome luxurious accommodation here - prior to that Gav and I were sharing a single bed in a room full of fartarses, and lets just say the smell was not pretty in that room or bathroom. Penny Street Bridge was gorgeous though - our own double bed, bathroom with rain-style shower head and delicious, free brekkies and dinners - livin' it up!!! We were also told to expect mega quiet gigs at this place but basically every time we've been told that the night has ended up with Brett and our tour organiser Ben Ruth dancing on tables AND a decent sized crowd who are willing to get a bit freaky!
Wow- so far the people we've met in the UK really LOVE their music, every night of the week! We have managed to pick up a few fans who came to nearly every show in their area, and it seems we may have broken a few records by pulling in plenty of live-music-hungry people to local pubs around the place... I didn't really have any expectations of what it was going to be like touring around these parts, but I think it's fair to say the tour has been a success so far! We've also had a LOT of fun, and I am pretty impressed with the places we have visited so far. As I write this we are all piled into the tour van on our way to the Piel Castle Pub in Ulverston... More news soon, peeps! Take care xx
