Hi people! We have connectivity!! So the china southern flight took us to our first stop in Guangzhou airport for about 5 hours - quite a strange, smoggy place with no airport pub and quite a lack of the friendly western hospitality we're used to. Guangzhou greeted us with its hazy brownness that gets browner at night, and very uniformly structured brown buildings. As we went through customs we were having a bit of a random conversation with the guy in line in front of ones who turned out to be one of Gav's brother's friends so we hung out with him while waiting for our connecting flight - that was pretty cool - small world!
Guangzhou also presented us with some scary squatting toilet decisions. Luckily there were normal ones too (I have a weird thing about foreign toilets - all the automatic flushing toilets have been freaking me out too!)...
We were pretty happy to get to enjoy delicious dumplings and tsingdao beer there, however this only kept us entertained for about an hour! After that it was on to $7 coffee (55 yuan)... And almost lost our credit card at that place too! And then we still had another 3 hours to kill - with wifi but NO FACEBOOK (cause we're in china - no social media allowed - what a tease!) We eventually made it onto the plane for the 12 hour flight to Amsterdam. This flight was thankfully soooo much better than the first one, nice aircon, lots of movies, sleep for me but no so much for Gav, and it got us OUT of guangzhou haha...
And now here we are in Amsterdam Airport about to start the exciting part of journey! So far we've found beer and delicious chocolate in the supermarket, as well as lots of amazing cheeses and other foods, and heaps of people with their doggies at the airport - so cool!!! Kinda sad to be leaving Amsterdam straight away but we are headed on the train to Berlin which is gonna be AMAZING and we shall return to Amsterdam at the end of our trip :P
Thats all i got for now, tatas!! Xx
