G'dayyyy :)
Right, so we're in Port Macquarie...it's 12am and we have to catch a bus to Sydney at 6am. Gonna feel pretty awake in the morning I'm feeling.
Anyway, today has been a pretty damn good day. The sun has decided to reappear which is fab because I was worrying about my rapidly fading tan. Unfortunately, I missed some areas with the old sun cream today and my lower back and buttocks are suffering the consequences but never mind, it will fade in a couple of days I'm sure.
We went to the beach this morning with some people we met at the hostel here. Marie and I left a little later than they did and walked through the town...we found this amazingly cheap clothes shop and I bought a gorgeous new top for $5 which is the equivilent of about 3.50. Bargain. Then we walked around the marina-y bit to the main beach. There were all these painted rocks around the marina that people had done, it was pretty cool.
We walked past the main beach and to a smaller (completely empty) beach called Oxley Beach, it was very pretty and the water was beautiful! We lay there for a bit, chatting, reading - all the usual beachy things but it was nice to relax...not that we haven't been doing that much, but still...I'm on holiday right?
After our little beach sesh we all walked to the Koala Hospital which was quite fun. We got there for 3 because there was a free tour on (gotta love the freebies) so we got a little insight into what they do. Basically they just rescue sick/injured koalas and fix them and rehabilitate them...but some are so sick they can't go back into the wild. They're pretty cute - one of them only had one leg. So yeah, it was pretty cool.
Then we all just headed back to the hostel...had the most disgusting dinner we've had so far but it was pretty entertaining and then we went on the free tour out the golf course to see the wild kangaroos and the sunset. The kangaroos were pretty sweet, there were loads of them. Just watched them for ages and chatted to the guywho runs the hostel here who had a lot of knowledge on them and on the area here. Plus, he's a backpacker and has done loads of travelling, the next place I wanna go is definitely Europe...so much to do and see and it's right on our door step, none of this jet lag business.
Anyway, after that we just came back, and have been sitting with loads of people on the veranda having a ... wait, you guessed it, chill!!!!
Going to bed now as I wanna be bright and breezey for Syds. So excited about all the people I'm gonna see in the next couple of weeks!! :)
Love and best wishes to all of you at home, hope life is treating you well and it's warming up over there because I don't think I'll survive when I come home if it's not. All the best, Chlo <3 xxx
