Me and Lauren (pictured) walked up Queenstown hill today. She managed to get us lost twice just on the way to the start of the trail. After that I took over with navigation. In the evening we about 14 of us from the house played some drinking games followed by a pub crawl around q'town. Got into bed at 4.30

First day in Queenstown! Breathtaking views. The hostel itself is alright. It's like a house in a sense that we all share the kitchen living area and bathroom which has 2 toilets and 2 showers ( there 24 people living here). Went out to the below zero ice bar for a few drinks with some house mates tonight. The walls were even made of ice!

Driving down the west coast now back towards Auckland. We encountered this tree. Roughly 2000 years old. Oldest tree in NZ. Trunk is roughly 13m wide! We continued our drive towards the airport for a hotel to only find out that everything near or around the airport was fully booked. We then had another hours drive south to find a motel. I did at least 8 hours drivjng!

Went for a little drive along a small stretch of 90 mile beach. Turned out to be a very stressful occasion. Not only was the tide coming in but the 4x4 system in the car overheated and we couldn't use it. Mother was panicking as usual. We made it off the beach safetly though! We then started to run low on fuel. By the time we filled up we only had /4k to travel and most gas stations were closed on a Sunday. Luckily though we found an open one and filled up.

Continued up the coast. Saw this waterfall on the way. Went swimming in the ocean. A lot colder here than in Australia
