The weather started off a bit crap this morning so mum and I decided to visit the Antarctic centre. Christchurch is known as the gateway to Antarctica. We got to ride in the snow buggies around a course then got to experience -16 in a simulated snow storm! Later that afternoon the sun came out so we decided to head to Hanmer Springs. Here there was natural hot pools with some temperatures getting to 37! Very relaxing way to spend the afternoon

GAME DAY. Mother and I played 18 looong holes of golf at Russley Golf club. I would say we are pretty evenly matched in terms of skill. I even managed to get a couple of pars and beat her on two holes!!

Arrived Into Christchurch yesterday after an 8 hour bus ride from Queenstown. Today dad and I had a meeting with a humane possum control trap designer, in hopes of extending the use of the device to the squirrels in the UK. Later that day I took the car exploring and ended up in a place called Oxford

After spending the night on Matt and Jo's farm, the next morning we headed off early to the fiord lands. The morning sun and clouds over the mountains and hills looked amazing from the plane. Later that morning we hopped on a jet boat and travelled up the Wairaurahiri river to the sea. We travelled very fast on very shallow water. I can only describe it as like being on a roller coaster but without the safety barrier. Great fun!

Went flying with the parents today. Spent 3 hours waiting in qtown airport for the weather to improve. Flew to a small gold mining village (St Bathans) with a population of 9 people and had lunch in a "haunted pub". Ghost is said to be of a murdered "lady of the night" who searches the pub for the man who killed her and stole her gold. I didn't see any ghosts.
