After the early alarm and an attempt at a quiet shower in the dorm, I was on the early bus to Australia Zoo! Probably the worlds most famous and prestigious zoo, and more iconically, the home of the late 'Crocodile Hunter' - Steve Irwin.
It was a really great day. Not only did I see a wide range of different animals but also discovered a lot of things I didn't know about Steve himself and all the good he has done for animal conservation! Just being next to the croc enclosures that Steve would be running around on TV was pretty cool. The mid-day show in 'The Crocaseum' was another fun experience with loads of birds, snakes and obviously crocodiles. Seeing the animals in action made me realise how amazing they really are. It was great because in most zoos you just see the animals sitting behind glass.
There was even a section of the zoo that looked like Roath Park, and instead of swans wondering the paths it was kangaroos! They were all really calm and sat on the floor in a laid back way. Can just imagine them with shades on and a beer in hand!
Not forgetting that I saw a heap load of koalas. Who in all honesty were mostly asleep, but I did get to stroke one!
Back at the hostel I just got ready for another early start tomorrow, as after this morning I didn't want the hassle of having to try and be quiet! My plan is to roll out of bed and go!
