This morning I made the most of my four post bed and had a lie in until 10. Which is probably the latest I've been in bed until on the trip. I got up and got ready. The weather was awful as it was the first time it had rained since I've been in the US. We left Houston after our windy night and got on the road to New Orleans. I've made good progress so were in the hotel by 3.30 in what felt like even worse heat. We made the most of the facilities so did our laundry, I enjoyed a cold shower and then walked into the French quarters for a meal. This morning, before leaving San Antonio, we went to the Alamo. Unfortunately I didn't know the story of the Alamo at all, reading the information boards they assume you know the basic story and the main people involved so these didn't really help me. This morning we left Santa Fe in good time and made our way to Carlsbad. We didn't stop for many breaks but it meant we got to Carlsbad nice and early. Before going to the campsite we went to the Caverns in Carlsbad and enjoyed a long walk underground exploring the caves.
