I arrived in Sydney at 8.30am with very little sleep and was considerably jet lagged. I started the day off by finding my hostel and putting my bag in a locker before finding my way to the apple store to figure out how to unlock my phone! I'm going back again tomorrow and it should all be ready for my international sim.
After walking half way into Sydney I was going to turn around and try and get some well needed sleep, but as I was so close I thought I would go check out the harbour. It was fab, and I even decided to hop on a ferry tour and went for a wonder around Watson's Bay. Was perfect weather, great views and really enjoyed myself, although had to turn down the ridiculously expensive fish and chips!
On my way back, I took a detour to a Starbucks in order to grab some free Internet, although it would have been cheaper to just pay for Wifi and ditch the Starbucks! I then strolled back to the hostel and went to my room! Cooked myself some porridge, as by this stage I had gone over my budget by £50. And then chilled in the surprisingly empty dorm with my German room mate.
Attempting the laundry was the next challenge for me. Something I've never done before and to be honest was a bit nervous about- what if the only clothes I had for 4 months went pink?! Anyway I walked into the laundry room which had 5 white machines all boxes with a door at the front. I opened one up popped the money in, added a sprinkle of powder and started the cycle. Easy!
Going back to collect my squeaky clean clothes I realised that in tiny print, two machines read dryer and the others washer! Picking up my bone dry stinky clothes was not the highlight of my day! They are now on a new wash and let's hope it works this time. I could really do with some clean stuff.
