Greymouth, with its old seaside town vibe was wet and cold (just like a typical day in Southend or Margate then).
So we used this time as an R&R stop on our adventure, staying at a practically empty YHA hostel with its homely lounge and fireplace resulted in two great duvet days watching movies, reading and eating cake and custard.
We did venture out a little though to do the Floodwall walk along the river Grey and then continued on to the coast and the pebble beach in search of gemstones. A good place to find Jade apparently, we however only found lots of pretty green looking pebbles. So we did the next best thing and went to a shop that sold Jade, S got a lovely self designed necklace and K a bracelet. Jade (Pounamu in the Māori language) is considered a powerful healing stone and an amulet of good luck and friendship. It also recharges energy although our stay in Greymouth itself was enough to do that.
