Day thirteen of Contiki!
Our first night in Rome was a walk-about dinner, where Mal, Keeks, Jay, Dylan and I went to a lovely restaurant in the city to enjoy a three course meal of bruschetta, pasta and profiteroles.
The next day was a day of history and monuments. We spent the morning in Vatican City, sinning in the museum, the Sistine Chapel, St Peters Bascillica, and the Vatican Square. The paintings, sculptures, tapestry and architecture were breathtaking, as was the history and the fairytales. Kellie then took us to her favourite pizzeria in Rome for lunch and gelato before departing for the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
For these, I was exploring with Georgia. We went for a guided tour through these, and got photos with some "Gladiators" with our new friends from North Carolina.
Our third tour of Rome was later that afternoon, guided by out wonderful manager, Kellie. We knocked off Trevi Fountain, where we threw coins for good luck and romance, the Spanish Steps, and the Pantheon, originally built in 27 BC to worship many (pan) Roman gods (theon).
To conclude an enormous day, we were treated to a three course Italian meal of pasta, caprese and tiramisu. A quick changeover at the hotel and then we were off again for a pub crawl, with two hours of free drinks (a LOT of G&T's) and then a bit of dancing by the river.
