Week 5- Vietnam (Hoi An) Day 7
So today was our last full day in Hoi An, our time here has gone really quick and we will be sad to leave! The staff at Jackfruits have treated us like their family and have gone the extra mile. This has definitely been our favourite place to stay since travelling.
We got up and had breakfast outside on the patio. Yet again another huge but delicious breakfast. We packed away our stuff and Gemma sorted out some bits she's not using to send home because she's had enough of carrying it all (I'm going to send mine home with Bradley next week). I will finally admit to my sisters I packed too much stuff, woops! We had to be at the tailors for 4pm so we had some time to kill in the morning... We were straight to the beach!! Any excuse! So we had a lovely cycle down to the beach and spent a couple of hours chilling out topping up our tans! We had a really yummy doughnut type cake from a stall on our way back.
We then went back to the home stay to have a quick shower to freshen up before our fittings at the tailors! We were so excited to see our clothes! We cycled down to the tailors (not the best idea we were all sweaty again). As soon as we walked in we saw Brad's shirt, it was really nice and such good quality, so we could tell we were going to be impressed! Both of Gemma's dresses were ready for her to try on and they fitted her perfectly! They looked so lovely and were exactly how she wanted them! I tried my bikini on which likewise was really good material and for once was a bikini that actually fitted me properly!
About 15 minutes later a lady walked in with my dress. I was SO excited to try it on! It wasn't completely finished but she wanted to me try it on so she could decide where to put the straps and also how long to make the dress! The dress fitted really nicely and the lady pinned the straps and tacked up the hem! I had to come back in an hour to try it on again, and Gemma's bikini would be ready by then too!
Gemma had found a tea house in the Old Town on trip advisor which looked really good so we decided to find that while we waited. So we got back on our bikes and cycled into town. It took us a little while to find it.. Especially while dodging all the people! I nearly took out a little boy because he stepped in front of my bike to pick up a stick!! He nearly gave me heart failure! Nonetheless, the tea house was amazing and a good shout from Gemma. It was another business ran by people who were deaf. It had a really good set up and it was so peaceful. We decided to do the cookie tasting option. We tried many mini Vietnamese cookies including; coconut, green tea, passion fruit, chocolate, black poppy seed and ginger. Gemma had it with local Vietnamese tea and I had it with fresh orange juice. It was so good!
We then cycled back to the tailors and Gemma tried on her bikini and I tried on my dress. The lady had already altered the straps and finished the hem! It was so nice, I was really pleased with it. All that needed to be done now was the finishing touches- adding the sequins! She needed the evening to do this so we planned to pop back in the morning. Gemma was also really pleased with her bikini. The lady from the leather shop then appeared on her motorbike and had our boots with her! We both fell in love with our boots so all in all it was one massive success!! We decided to have it all posted home so we didn't have to carry it with us!
By the time we finished in the tailors it was getting quite late so we cycled back to the home stay and decided to have dinner there instead of having to go back out again. We asked the lady if it would be possible for them to make us dinner, immediately she agreed and asked what time we would like it. She didn't tell us what she was going to make or how much it was going to cost us so it was all one big surprise. A little later on she knocked on our door to say it was ready.. My god she had made us a feast, it looked and smelt delicious! She had made sweetcorn and chicken soup, pork curry, breaded squid and spicy meat which you wrapped up in massive lettuce leaves with spicy dip! We also had fresh hot bread and prawn crackers! All of this food was just for the two of us and when we finished a dish the man brought more out for us!! Let's just say we were very full by the end and had to roll to bed!!
